Interesting Facts About The Play It Safe Project

Play It Safe 2007 offered free, fun and alcohol-and-drug-free events starting on Friday, June 1, 2007, and the excitement continued through Friday, June 22, 2007. Some points to note about this year’s project are:

 *13,148 participants a new record

 26 States represented + D.C.

 75,000 Passports to Fun were printed and distributed in Ocean City, across the State of Maryland and beyond

 57 FREE planned events, including karaoke, indoor miniature golf, windsurfing, kayaking, midnight bowling, basketball, outdoor miniature golf, volleyball, Slide ‘N Ride, tennis, laser tag, rock climbing and pancake eating contest, weekly access to Health & Racquet Club. All events were held, no closures due to weather!

 300+ businesses, organizations and individuals contributed money and prizes

 Play It Safe student committee, a sub committee of SADD, at Stephen Decatur High School, had 20+ members last school year (2006-2007)

 97 Volunteers giving more than 1,000 hours of service were key to the implementation of Play It Safe 2007
